Our Interests

We are a group of students from the University of Saskatchewan fascinated by imaging-guided minimally invasive, percutaneous, and catheter based procedures that are the cutting edge of medicine. These techniques help reduce complications, shorten hospital stay, and expand treatment options for many patients.

Not your usual interest group

Unlike many medical school interest groups, who focus on a single specialty, we favour a broad and inter-professional approach. Depending on the clinical question at hand, this area of practice is shared by numerous professionals including interventional radiologists, interventional cardiologists, vascular surgeons, neurosurgeons, and others. We help our procedurally-oriented colleagues discover the many different career paths that they may enjoy and how the professionals in different fields interact to deliver our patients the best quality of care.

Moreover, by drawing in students with diverse specialty interests, we hope to foster productive and collegial interprofessional relationships early in our training.

What we do

We aim to excite and educate ourselves and our colleagues of the minimally-invasive treatment and diagnostic options for our patients. We want to help each other discover the career options available to us should we want to perform such procedures. In our first year, we held a career talk involving an interventional radiologist, electrophysiology cardiologist, and vascular surgeons. We also organized two endovascular access simulation (and pizza :) ) nights led by representatives from an industry-leading medical device manufacturer. We are excited to see what the future years will bring to the club. Please see the "Upcoming Events" section of the website for the latest updates on our endeavours.
